the Director of Public Works before the issue of the Crown Lease and premium and Crown Rent to be then adjusted in accordance with the area and the amounts of premium and Crown Rent at which the lot may be sold.

(h.) The lot to be used only for the erection of a

chapel, a school and a house for a Chinese pastor. In the event of its being desired to use any por- -tion of the lot for any other purpose, the previous sanction of the Governor-in-Council must be obtained.

For cases in which religious and charitable bodies have been granted areas on special terms, I would refer to Mr. J. Chamberlain's Despatch No. 347 of the 18th. September, 1905, approving the grant of a site for an Anglican Church at Kowloon, to Mr. Chamberlain's Despatch No. 239 of the 16th. July, 1900, approving the free grant of a site near Kowloon City to the Church Missionary Society for the erection of a Rescue Home for Chinese girls as well as the free grant of a site near the vill- -age of To-kwa-wan to the Hildesheim Missionary Society and to Mr. Chamberlain's Despatch No. 269 of the 3rd. August, 1900, approv- -ing the grant of a free site to representatives of the Sikhs and Hindoos in Hongkong for a place of worship.
